it has been quite dead around here of late but not because I’m lazy in fact the opposite this past month or so I have digging away at a much larger project: web-designing, print-designing, ordering prints, planning, reviewing and just making sure everything goes well. And as such this has become neglected and when I see it looking at me on the bookmarks bar I feel guilty but at the same time it isn’t what I’m focussed on write now.

I could continue to post just images but WordPress is for than that so I have decided to end this – I was never much of a blogger anyway. Maybe one day I’ll come back when I have time and more passion but for now my brain is fixed on the How To Project and for awhile that is what it will stay on.

That’s where you’ll find me.

Described as the world’s first social magazine, the Flipboard app is exactly that. It combines all social networking sites into one combined feed that reads like a well laid out magazine. This looks like a wicked idea and one that is very well designed, it takes away the horror of those ugly links you see on Twitter and Facebook and displays them within the same page – updating as it happens. It was only a matter of time before something like this made its way to the iPad and I’m glad it’s doe so well. Now, I need to get an iPad.

There’s also a nice little video featuring the furry Adam Lisagor.

I can see this being the future of print magazines and I think they should embrace it with two hands.

If this doesn’t make you feel summery, then you are a cold hearted serpent.

This is what I have been working on the past 2 months or so. The How To: Project is at the moment a small project and aims to create limited stocked posters with in the theme of  ’How To’ that would accompany other products. For instance, a it could sell a series of highly scientific and super magnifying  microscopes with a small screen printed poster on how to use it. That’s just an idea.

To kick things off will be a 42 x 59.4cm (A2)  limited edition run of posters is designed to teach unhappy folk how to brighten up any wall or vertical surface. Printed with environmentally friendly, solvent-free inks on to 100% recycled organic paper. Limited to 50 prints only for £15!

Screen-printed by the brilliant folks at Get A Grip Studio as a one colour print, which should arrive some time early next week and should be in the store by the end of the week at least.

Until then click the image to be directed to The How To: Blog of visual treats and get a sense of our style.

Janky, vintage, textured, simple illustrations by Raymond Biesinger.

Saw these book cover illustrations on Kitsune Noir, it’s the combination of textures that I really like – it kinda looks like he’s used different paper and cut it out for different body parts. Also the eyes of the horse are hilarious. As Bobby on KN says he’d like to know what each of the books are called as it might help work out what the images are actually about hah!

I’ve seen this film building hype and circling around the internet for awhile now but in all honesty I didn’t think it was gonna be very good, but watching this trailer has totally changed my mind.

The Social Network is a film based on the success of Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook and it totally looks like a story worth telling.

Just found these really detailed and interesting paper sculptures by Russian duo Alexei Lyapunov and Lena Ehrlich at their site PeopleToo. My favourite is the cat at the piano, there’s something in it that reminds me of the film The Cat Returns.
